Why did you decide to quit?

I decided to quit because I always had sore throats, I was out of breath when walking short distances. I want to be here for a long time and I knew my health was being effected by smoking. I also hated that my hair and hands would stink of smoke.

What is the one thing that is really helping you to stay smoke-free?

The thing that is really helping is patches some say they don't work but if you stay focused on not smoking the patches really do help. Drinking alot of water was a big help to me aswell.

How do you distract yourself from the cravings?

I beat the cravings by drinking water slowly and walking keeps your mind off smoking a lot. Every day at 1pm I got a text from hse quit with positive messages this helped me remember why I wanted to stop smoking.

What is the best thing about being smoke-free?

The best thing about being smoke-free is not smelling like an ashtray anymore. I am a lot healthier and overall my health has improved. I haven't got a sore throat since I stopped smoking.

What tips or advice would you give to anyone else trying to quit?

My advice for other smokers is stick to a plan and get extra help. I visited my doctor and we decided that I would go on the patches for 12 weeks. Think on how much money you will save. You can quit it's all about dedication.
