Why did you decide to quit?

I was asked to knit a coat for the friend of a friend. When it was finished she wanted to give me an appreciation gift, she was told I had two interests, knitting and smoking. As an anti-smoker she would/could not buy cigarettes so she bought me an e-cig. So it was not my decision but I decided to try it. It worked. I gradually weaned myself down to 0 nicotine over five months then gave up altogether. Knitting saved my life.

What is the one thing that is really helping you to stay smoke-free?

The thing that is really helping is the genuine delight of friends and family that I've quit.

How do you distract yourself from the cravings?

I beat the cravings by gradually reducing the nicotine in the e-cig.

What is the best thing about being smoke-free?

The best thing about being smoke-free is that I'm back in charge of my life, not being ruled by where I can smoke next and that I always had to have cigs in my bag.
